The Ifor Williams LM166 is the trailer most Norfolk builders, landscapers and smallholders end up hiring, because a 16ft by 6ft 6in flatbed carries almost anything a domestic or small-commercial job throws at it — a pallet of blocks, a ride-on mower, bagged aggregate, timber, garden clearance, or a micro digger on the ramps. It hires from our Norwich depot at £45 per day including VAT, and you can add it to a digger booking in the same checkout so machine and transport arrive together.
Including VAT. Delivery £1 per road mile.
Weekly hire: £180 for 7 days — pay four days, keep it for seven. Weekend hire (Friday afternoon to Monday morning) is charged as a single day.
Delivered and collected by us from the Norwich depot (NR3) at £1 per road mile, worked out on real driving distance to your postcode. Sites 40 road miles or further from the nearest depot carry a two-day minimum hire.
No surprises after you book. This is exactly where our responsibility ends and yours begins on insurance, deposits and damage — the same wording as our hire agreement.
Plant is not automatically insured by us once it leaves the depot. You need hired-in plant cover for the full replacement value (theft and accidental damage included), or you accept liability for loss and damage yourself. We may ask to see evidence of cover before we deliver.
We don't hold a damage deposit or take a card pre-authorisation. You pay the hire and delivery total up front — by card at checkout or bank transfer — and nothing further unless damage, loss, missing fuel or extra days are chargeable after collection.
From delivery until collection the machine and attachments are your responsibility. Damage from misuse, neglect or an accident is charged at the reasonable cost of repair, and full replacement value if it's lost, stolen or written off. Fair wear and tear or a genuine mechanical breakdown is on us — stop work, ring the depot, and we'll repair or swap the machine as fast as we can.
Machines arrive serviced, clean and full of fuel. Return them the same way. If a machine comes back excessively dirty or short of fuel we charge the reasonable cost of cleaning or refuelling — no arbitrary penalty fees.
You confirm safe, legal access for our transport, mark or trace underground services before digging, and make sure only competent, trained operators use the machine. If we can't deliver or collect because access is blocked or nobody's on site, a wasted-journey charge equal to the delivery cost may apply.
Full refund outside 48 hours. Inside 48 hours we may keep one day's hire for the lost slot and transport. Date changes are free subject to availability.
Read the full hire terms →The LM166 is rated at 3,500 kg gross with an unladen weight of roughly 840 kg, which leaves a payload of about 2,600 kg. In practical terms that is a full pallet of blocks or paving, a ride-on mower or compact tractor, a tonne bag or two of aggregate, long lengths of timber, or a garden's worth of green waste. The 16 ft by 6 ft 6 in deck also takes our JCB 8008 CTS micro digger, so if you would rather collect the machine yourself than pay mileage, the trailer is the way to do it.
If you passed your car test in Great Britain you can tow a trailer up to 3,500 kg MAM behind a suitable vehicle without a separate B+E test, following the licence change in December 2021 — so a standard category B licence covers the LM166. What still matters is your towing vehicle: check the manufacturer's maximum towing capacity and nose weight on your V5C or door plate, and make sure the combined weight stays inside your vehicle's gross train weight. We will not send a trailer out behind a vehicle that is plainly not rated for it.
£45 per day including VAT, plus £1 per road mile if you want it delivered from our NR3 depot. Collection from the depot is free. There is no deposit-style surcharge, insurance levy or cleaning fee bolted on afterwards — the price shown at booking is the price you pay. Ask us for a weekly rate if you need it for a longer project.
The LM166 is a flatbed with a mesh or ply floor and lashing points along the frame, and we can supply drop-side extensions and a ramp set on request — say what you are carrying when you book and we will send the right configuration. Ratchet straps are included; a load cover is available if you are carrying anything that could blow off in transit.
Yes, and it is the most common way it goes out. On the booking page you can select the JCB 8008 CTS micro digger and the LM166 for the same dates, and the system prices both plus a single delivery charge based on your postcode. If you are towing the digger yourself, book the trailer only and collect both from the Norwich depot.
Not currently — the LM166 is based at Norwich (NR3) and hires out across Norfolk and north Suffolk. If you need transport around Peterborough or Cambridgeshire, call Caiden on 07387 967 698 and we will either arrange delivery of the machine on our own transport or tell you what we can move for you.
Delivery is £1 per road mile from our Norwich depot (NR3), charged on genuine driving distance to your postcode rather than a flat zone rate — so a job five minutes away costs a fraction of one an hour away. The booking page works the cost out live from your postcode before you pay, and all prices include VAT. Sites 40 road miles or further from the nearest depot carry a two-day minimum hire.
Every machine leaves us serviced, fuelled and checked, and we walk you through the controls at handover. If a machine develops a genuine fault during your hire, call the depot and we will repair or swap it — you are not charged for downtime that is our fault. You are responsible for the machine while it is on your site, so it should be immobilised and secured overnight, and any accidental damage or loss is chargeable.
